S 510, the Food Safety Modernization Act, may be the most dangerous bill in the history of the US

1. It puts all US food and all US farms under Homeland Security and the Department of Defense, in the event of contamination or an ill-defined emergency

2. It would end US sovereignty over its own food supply by insisting on compliance with the WTO, thus threatening national security.

3. It would remove the right to clean, store and thus own seed in the US, putting control of seeds in the hands of Monsanto and other multinationals, threatening US security

4. It deconstructs what is left of the American economy. It takes agriculture and food, which are the cornerstone of all economies, out of the hands of the citizenry, and puts them under the total control of multinational corporations

what american can accept is unbelievable !

So best case, you will have to fill a standard form to grow your tomatoes and if the tomatoe you want to grow is not in the list then you will be free to spend a lot of money and time to register it .

What you cannot wait 3 years and spend only 100 000$ so fill your form with a repertoriated tomato!

Yea that's what I figured. I was directed to this video by someone who told me it's illegal to grow food, and I figured it is as you say.

Because that would show that most of the claims being made by these nutjobs about the bill are laughably false. Don't get me wrong there are problems with the bill, but it doesn't shut down farmers markets, outlaw backyard gardens, or force organic farms to use pesticides. the real problems with the bill essentially boil down requiring small farms that distribute locally to participate in the same regulatory framework the large corporate farms that distribute globally require.
