Barbie breathes her last in a hospital bed, while the Colonel and Sarah Layton return to Rose Cottage, where they are greeted by shocking news from Hiroshima. Meanwhile, Guy and Rowan set off for Pankot. Drama, starring Peggy Ashcroft, Wendy Morgan and Judy Parfitt
Wonder if Judy Parfitt is as horrid and bitchy in real life as the parts she plays???

Every colonial power has its Col Laytons and its Hauptsturmfuehrer-to-Standarten-
fuehrer Merrick. the Brits, the Belgians, the Spanish, the French, the Romans, the
Greeks, the Htttites, the Egyptians.... Probably even the Turks, though you'd get a
vehement argument from herr neighbors about that.

@globalman - and you get away with being a common as dirt, hypocritical, racist, Fascist bigot. You see no good in a CO who knows the name and family of every sepoy in his Regiment and is willing to risk his life for them, as Teddy does, even when the sepoy has gone over to a barbaric enemy. You see nothing good in Sarah or her father or that there are good and bad people in any society - yours included - and that's part of the story. It makes anyone loathe and despise you.

Why do evil people succeed? Mildred gets away with being a closet drunk, pill addict/adulteress slut. Merrick gets totally protected by the authority who know what he is. He goes on hurting, tormenting and victimising. Of course it's fiction but sadly there are real stories that are far worse. a brilliant series but makes one loathe and despise the English. They play at being noble or upper class but are really common as dirt and hypocrites like the Americans :-(
