I would love to just have a good jazzy dance with some one while wearing a flapper dress and listening to this. All my friends listen to pop music and I just wanna dance to this so much

Right - Sonny was one of the solid BASES of the great, Ellington Orchestras ... as Jo Jones was, of the best of the BASIE Orchestras, and Kaiser Marshall/Walter Johnson were, of the best of Fletcher Henderson's Orchestras. Greer, Marshall, Johnson, Jones and Chick Webb were some of the greatest of all big-band drummers. :)

Duke's music SHOULD be on the radio more often, but it's probable that not, too many FM stations even SCHEDULE his music, anymore. That's why youtube excerpts are so valuable! Even better, is to find a CD or two (or more) of his best recordings.

Sonny Greer was amazing! He was so busy twirling the sticks elegantly that for a moment I thought it must be an overdub! But he was just smooth!

I wish this style of music would come on the radio more often. At my school we have a jazz band we might be working on a project were we are going to raise the awareness of jazz music
