Aiki ken and jo contain the essential elements relevant to the riai, or coherence, between the taijutsu and the weapons. The focus is on the form of the base and the footwork, which allows for full expression of power from the hips. Try to find the first 2 introductions to Morihiro Saito Shihans first series of technical manuals, Traditional Aikido, for the best explanation. Or learn the Iwama curriculum from a good teacher.

Why is aikiken been regarded as swords play and not swordsmanship?
Isnt the truth that the aikido training with sword is based upon same battel principals that WORK in real life sword logic?

In Aikiken or Aikijo we often keep a little safety distance so we can practice with dynamic.
Not all schools do that and not in every kata. One time in this video you even see them do that step backwards.
