@shindouhikaru43 Correction... It was 1 silver coin (obol, to be more precise) inside their mouth, and that was after the coins were invented (circa 650 BC). Before that, I'm not really sure on what they did.
They gold coins in the eyes is a HUGE misleader seen in MANY movies

Just to be sure : the language they speak is modern greek, right ? I can't follow the play with the text by Sophocles =/

just for those who find it confusing, The Ancient Greeks believe that you had to commemorate the dead by giving them a proper burial and Money ( coins on eyes) so they can pay the Ferryman who takes them to the underworld. if not givin a proper burial to offer to Hades ( god of the dead in Ancient greek) the soul of the dead man would wander the earth for eternity, never to find peace.

Ιn ancient Greece it was extremely important to commemorate the dead, to the point of stressing about having children so that someone would continue to worship their anchesters and bloodline after the parents' death. So Antigone was not only moved out of love for her brother, but out of devotion to a very deep, important tradition. Thank you so much for the upload.

Ας δούν αυτή την υπερπαραγωγή οι σημερινοί σκηνοθέτες και παραγωγοί που μας έχουν πρήξει διάφορα αντικείμενα με τις αηδίες τους.
Δεν ντρέπονται λίγο;Δεν είναι άξιοι να δημιουργήσουν μία αντίστοιχη παραγωγή;

Η μήπως δεν θέλουμε;

Antigone is indeed another timeless masterwork of Sophocles! For in it he depicts the old conflict between the necessities of upholding political power and the duties and feelings caused by religion and family bands; manifested in the persons of Antigone and her uncle Creon; and the poets decides the struggle in favour of the later thus giving all exercise of political powers severe morale boundaries and limits and this is indeed an ever recurring topic; and Irene is a great actress.
