My friend drove 2000 miles from Sardis, BC to Whitehorse, Yukon by herself to visit me and travel another 2000 miles through the Yukon and Alaska with me. This video is for her with my thanks. I am inspired by the local known Yukon anthem "Land Of Gold" written by Jim Vautour and Manfred Janssen. Barbara Chamberlin sings it in this video. From Whitehorse to Haines to Skagway to Dawson to Arctic Circle to Top Of The World Highway to Chicken, Alaska to Kluane Park, and all the breathtaking views and places in between. I love the beauty and the magic of the North - I am ever grateful to my childhood friend "Kate" for taking time to come visit me up here and making the journey of a lifetime such an amazing experience.
It is one of the most beautiful songs I've heard. Manfred and Jim sang it Nov 3 in Whitehorse at Shipyard Parks for the Olympic Torch Relay. I videoed them but my cam batteries went dead. I didn't know their names, so I kept research including the Two Rivers, I couldn't find anything recorded. Ms Chamberlin had just released her CD w/this song. It describes so perfectly the Yukon, and every thing you posted. Thank You for your words.

Thank you for posting this video and song.... I played in a group with Manfred and Jim in the late '70's called Two Rivers. We recorded Land of Gold.. more acoustically than this version at the CBC studio in the fall of '78 along with 3 other of their original songs. We toured around the Yukon and Alaska... this song captures the spirit and soul of those who travelled that 'road less travelled'.. thank you...
