Stuffed TOFU Appetizer (recipe)

1 pack tofu (4 pcs in the box)
¼ small cabbages (sliced thinly)
2 carrots (shredded)
¼ cup chop cilantro
2 clove fresh garlic (minced)
2 tbs olive oil
5 cups vegetable oil
11/2 cups flour
¼ tsp turmeric
¼ tsp garlic powder
2 cups water
Salt and pepper

Cut each tofu a cross to make 2 triangle shapes. Make a hole (not all the way) on each triangle by dig out some of the inside the tofu. Save the tofu crumb to mix with filling.

Filling;
Sautee the garlic with olive oil until change the color, add cabbage and carrot, cooked for 2 minutes, add the cilantro, salt and pepper. Turn off the heat.

Batter (Skin);
Using a whisker, mix flour, turmeric, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Add water little at time until it blends well.

Mix the tofu & vegetable_put the filling mixture inside the triangle tofu. Heat the vegetable oil in the wok. Fill in the tofu hole with the vegetable mixture, dip the tofu into the flour mixture and fry it in oil until it turns a golden brown. Serve with peanut sauce

Peanut sauce;
½ cup fried or roasted peanuts
2 tbs vinegar
2 pcs lime leaf
3 tbs palm sugar
2 cloves fresh garlic
1 cup water
salt

Mix all the ingredients and blend, using a blender.

  • Great video! I've always bought the puffed tofu for this. I'll go ahead and try regular firm tofu next time.
