On February 26, 2009, Google software engineer Matt Cutts collected questions on Google Moderator and answered many of them on video.
Marjy from Boca Raton, FL asked:
Recently, Google has been more proactive in providing results that feature "corrected" spellings. In what way will smart guesses be employed in search results in the future? Can we expect more synonyms in search results, for example?
I am very dyslexic and spelling is a huge problem for me. I use Google for spell checking very often. It's the best spell checker I've come across. I wish there would be a "Google Spell Check" extention for FireFox/Chrome. The spell checkers currently available for FF stink like poo' !!

I always use Google as a spellchecker. I'd say nearly 15-20% of my searches are just for spell checking, and not actual content searching.
