  • well I do have A LOT of acsess to a piano (my grandmother teaches it) but the highest note on trombone I can do is a high D, which, because of the clef diffrence, is one note below the treble staff, so I need two more notes up (and it's hard for me to do even the D!)

  • @sharpie660 Well, don't overdo it on the trombone - save your lips for the pipes (and the girls!!)

  • actually, I noticed that he also does what I THINK is a low G flat, but not sure.

  • @sharpie660 Do you mean when he closes his knees on the sound holes at the side of the chanter! I think that note might be a low E ! But I'll leave that to you to find out, my naturally-gifted wee friend! (I've always wanted a naturally-gifted friend !!!) [It's a piper's prank to cover someone's sound holes with black tape, when they're not looking - so when they go for the low G, they get something much deeper! Wait till you join a band for that one!]

  • @piperbob2 I think it would be low F because it goes g a b c d e F G a so one note lower would be an F natural

  • @sharpie660 You could be right, o wise one; but I'm thinking the sound holes are that much further down the chanter from the bottom hole. I did try to test the note by taping up the two sound holes, and letting my Saul Bagpipe Tuner check the note, but the reading went haywire! Testing with a piano (or even a trombone) might be the answer. Our low A is about a Bb, so ...... oh my brain hurts/ I haven't got access to a piano (or a trombone). I guess I'll leave it to you - for now!

  • I learned the hard way not to practice them back to back! (You know how to make a sound on a brass so it's no suprise) And I don't need to worry about my lips, my slide arm will make up for it!
