The SDIV's EMD SW1500 poked its hood into La Mesa a few weeks ago while one of the Railroad's two NRE Gensets was in the shop. When the train works up the grade it makes a nice little rumble which is enough to rouse me out of bed, so one night after a late night at work I decided when I heard the horn I'd get my camera out and video the train from my porch just to capture the sound.
Realizing it would come back shortly thereafter I pulled myself together and headed into the "Downtown" area of La Mesa to catch them coming up the grade there and blowing for the crossings. As I waited (and waited, and began to worry they'd tie up in El Cajon as they sometimes do) it began raining, and one of La Mesa's finest stopped by and had a friendly chat ("WTF are you doing standing by the railroad tracks at 1:45 AM in the pouring rain?!?!?!"). Finally the local showed up, light power. Oh well.
@Michaellovestrains The local runs between 1 and 3 AM Monday through Friday (technically, Sunday night through Thursday night, sometimes Sunday night / Monday morning it gets out earlier since the Trolley ends serice sooner).

@CoasterFan2105 The UP and GMTX(?) units which were in use on the southern end of the line (south of the border) were sent back to their respective owners, and the Geeps and SDs which used to frequent up here were reassigned to that end of the territory. They could wander up here if needed, but the nicer units will likely be kept up north of Mexico as much as possible.

So, does SDIV just have those 3 locos and no more geeps?

Nice Jared! Does it run everyday?

@MegaZtrain Yes, they shove out of the yard straight onto the Bayside Line, then get pull forward into the 12th and Imperial Transfer Station and get permission across the Diamonds onto the Orange Line which they take out to El Cajon.
