@aebasscadet Don't get irrational. Quantum computer science is extremely on the ascendant, but we're so far from using them as personal computers it's ridiculous to lay the blame on some kind of conspiracy. For your interest, the most succesful quantum computer experiments currently handle between 10 and 20 qubits (e.g. 10 to 20 bits) and are worth several millions. Even if we focussed all kinds of science towards the goal of using them in our homes soon, it'd take at least 50 years.

WHAT HAPPENED WITH QUANTUM TECHNOLOGY? I firs heard of quantum computers 10 years ago. No one speaks of it now? Quantum computers are untapable, the net would be totally independent. Not to mention that the speed of that kind of computers would be 100.000 greater than that of today's computers. NO ONE IS RESEARCHING AND IMPLEMENTING NEW COMPUTER HARDWER FOR A LONG TIME NOW!

I use freenet to make sure that I can be anonymous. It is decentralized, encrypted and censorship resistant (censorship resistance requires anonymity). And it is free software (GPL).
Data is being stored encrypted on other freenet nodes, and as long as people request it, it stays available. And it works efficiently on restricted routes, like via your WLAN mesh.
We have the technology, it just needs to be put together.

I hope it will be part of the FreedomBox.
