  • This is the true, the real, Johny Farina?

  • Yes it is...I did an Elvis act with him at this same place

  • This song hit #1 for 2 weeks in Sept 1959, so its 50th anniversary topping the charts is right NOW ! ! ! ! This is steel guitar at its absolute best - the 'steel' is not the guitar, it's the tool in his left hand that creates the vibrato and 'slides' the note or chord up the scale. Great to see this technique on film !!! Thanks !!!!!!!!!!

  • You're WELCOME!!!

  • what happened to santo

  • Dunno...I'll ask John the next time I talk to him.

  • this must be one of the lovliest instrumentals ever and its still got a grt sound today you sure have an amazing diversity of sounds and videos bravo

  • Really takes me back to high school days (late 1950's). Very unique and so different than other music of that time, especially since it's an instrumental. Thanks for posting.

  • Note-for-note perfection...

  • @Maginel73

The last 3 chords of the song played by Johnny:

    C - x,7,10,9,8,x

    Db9 - x,8,9,8,9,x

    C6th add 9 - 8,10,8,9,10,10

  • @billfishoc Thank you so very kindly. Been trying to find out for years.

  • @Maginel73

    The last three chords @ the end: C, Db9, C 6th add 9.

  • @Armee5000

This instrument is a Fender Steel guitar. Sometimes referred to as a Hawaiian Steel guitar.

  • I don't think Johnny's going to be sleep walking after all the yayo he apparently did just before filming this

  • Whats The Name of That Instrument?... Before I Watched The Video of This Song I Thought It Was a Guitar

  • Most haunting pop melody ever.Even before the La Bamba movie.

  • What are the last three chords used to end the song??
