Because all you did was mount a turbo on a frame and make it spin with the use of a blower. Theres no motor to power that turbo and whatever motor you get that can get that thing producing any amount of boost in a set amount of time wont fit on that frame. Plus theres no divetrain. So yes it was pointless.

Its like slapping an shortblock on a unicycle.

Mahaney, you need to get a clue how turbine engine works.

And as mentioned earlier, this was just done to see if we were capable to build a functional turbine engine. We did it, right?

You guys realize its running on its own power, right? He used the blower to get it started. There are hundreds upon hundreds of videos like this on YouTube and they all use blowers to start them.
