@sunnchilde Bullshit! Erwin Rommel was not a nazi, he was a soldier of Wehrmacht not SS, and as a soldier he fought for his country with great honor. He didn't commit any war crimes. He followed the orders of his government going into war, as would every soldier today.

In the end what they say about hte fact the the Republican guard was able to get away on the battle and go back to Irak is bullshit. The american just dediced that this was not the time yet to force Sadam Hussein out of the power. By doing so, the americans allowed the Republican Guard to go against the rebellion they have encourage in Irak.

Isn't that one more reason to not mimic the Nazi behavior in 1991 or even more in our days? Is it reasonable to do the same things for which Nazi war criminals have been charged in Nürnberg? And does the US army behave at times really so much differently than those who were charged?

P2 cont - So the basis of the antithesis of my argument we should ignore Gurderian, Waffen SS tactics or Genghis khan because they did bad things, war is itself a bad thing! - it's a failure of economic & diplomatic policy! What is the debate about Rommel - so all the innovations of the German armed forces & economic model of military keynesianism are to be ignored because we don't like the immorality of the nazi govt - that is patent ignorance & arrogance (there is a disturbing meme in the west that if something western is not perfect we should not use it - ok that might be rational but then those same proponents use the "cultural relativism" that non-western Tyrany has more to offer us than Western Rationalism!)
