The sample at the beginning is from "Dr. X", a horror/serial killer movie from 1932 starring Lionel Atwill. Actually a good movie for something that ancient. I was watching it last nigth and was like, wow, this was used in Dr. Octagon..

yeah um, they come from different periods of music. automator's beats were simple but effective. more memorable, in my opinion - lotus is great, but all that lazersound side-chain offbeat shit only goes so far. this was made in 1996 without great software like ableton live..you try making some phat beats using that old gear. dat tape. go shopping for vinyl. this aint no mp3 download.
besides, music isn't a competition. achieve the sounds you want and let it be that.

Ps. They have the instumental album on amazon for like 8 bucks. I got it free shipping so it is considered among certain circles as the greatest deal in the history of mankind. Listening and actually comprehending this dude is on par with reading some book that uses a lot of large words. I fcking love it.
