This video shows how data bits are saved into a DRAM microchip. For example to write the letter "D" first its binary code is placed on the bit line. The word line voltage is raised to open the first string of gates. The '0' or '1' are saved into the capacitor deep trench (dark circles). When the word line voltage is shut off it isolates that string of bits. The next letter or number is then written using the same technique. The memory bits are read by measuring the voltage when the gate voltage turned on high. That is how DRAM (Dynamic Random Access Memory) works.
