"Brown Sugar" (M. Archer, Muhammad) from the album "Brown Sugar" by Dángelo

Brown Sugar is the debut album of American R&B and neo soul musician D'Angelo, released July 3, 1995 on EMI Records. Recording sessions for the album took place from 1994 to 1995 at Battery Studios and RPM Studios in New York City and at the Pookie Lab in Sacramento, California. While the album featured contributions from record producers including Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Bob Power and Raphael Saadiq, the majority of its production, instrumentation, arrangements and songwriting was handled by D'Angelo. Consisting mostly of romance and love-themed lyrical content, Brown Sugar features a fusion of gospel and classic soul music with contemporary R&B and hip hop elements. D'Angelo's singing style on the album ranges from his predominant falsetto crooning to sensual vocals with a hip hop-style flow. The sound was later dubbed as "neo soul".

  • not so funky.. reminds me of django and that jazz era.. so, nice job..

but, try not to loose rhytm when you want to throw in a riff.. xcept that, everything is in place.. singing and jazz.. :)

    peace and love from Serbia

    Thanks Serbia...

  • Yeah poeple asked me for tabs a few times, but i've never used tabs man. I just wanted to sing this song, listened to the original, copyed the baseline and recorded this video. I'm just improvising! So sorry, i can't give you any tabs. Wouldn't know how to write them. But thanks for the compliment!
