My experience while being an Exchange student on the CSUIP program in S.Korea 2008-2009.

Korea has a very complex culture that takes years to understand. After one year
of study abroad, you'll just begin to understand the intricacies of the culture. Korea's modern culture, was heavily shaped by its response to the historical periods it was occupied. Japan's post WWII release of control was the beginning of a free South Korea, and the government stimulated economic/industrial boom that began in the 1970's is what has led to modern S.Korea. Korea is unique, and has cultural intracacies and mannerisms not to be confused with Japan, China, or other Asian countries.

My experience in the college school system is not representative of what
it would be like to work there in a profession, or in another function of society.

Before you judge something, try to understand it. One of the best ways
to attempt to understand something, is to surround yourself by it, and take
the language, because language is a direct path into the mind of the culture.

Thoughtful comments/ideas/experiences about Korea are welcome. Hateful comments will be deleted, disruptive users will be promptly blocked. Thank You.

  • @mjkeychantszhin If you want privacy, Hasuk Jip. If you wanna be around intl students all the time, go for yonsei dorms.

  • @eclansky are the dorm rules really strict??. do they have curfews??

  • @mjkeychantszhin There are curfews that I remember, but email the school and they'll give you the exact details.

  • Actually theres a lotttttt of, lots of hasookjibs here in the u.s. for international students ;)

  • Haha, my best friend's from Korea! :D I want to go someday, you're pretty lucky :)

  • @tokee1234567 Exactly. I am an American and I lived in Korea for 13 years. I loved it. I went back just about every winter and summer after i started going to college in the U.S. Every time I went back, I'd see something new had just been built in a period of just 4 months. It's been more than 3 years now and i can't wait to see what has changed.

  • @tokee1234567 cool i will.. :D

  • @SuperKblast things have changed a lot in Korea since your dad was there. There's a Korean idiom: in 10 years the mountains and the rivers change... now it's takes less than 3 years for a person to not recognize a street in Korea they have visited before... Try it out and see for yourself

  • Pretty cool. :)
