This video show two cylinders having the same weight and same radius. We can see that the solid cylinder is going down faster than the cylindrical shell. The solid cylinder has a smaller moment of inertia.

  • @AndreiMikhailovich we have a misunderstanding.(мы друг друга не поняли .) but thanks for the details.

The solid cylinder has a smaller moment of inertia but it moves faster.

  • @AndreiMikhailovich Isn't it technically a tensor quantity?

  • Moment of inertia - a scalar physical quantity, a measure of inertia of a body in a rotational motion around an axis, just as the body weight is a measure of its inertia in the progressive movement. Characterized by the distribution of mass in the body: the moment of inertia is equal to the sum of products of elementary mass by the square of their distance from the base set (point, line or plane).

  • what is Moment of Inertia?
