Serval cat - a tame wildcat who acted like a domestic cat

The Flicks and I visited the best known cattery, A1 Savannahs, the home of the Savannah cat. We had an intense and memorable experience. We met this wonderful Serval cat.

@Esperonza This is a stupid argument. I understand that you´ll never understand why declawing is the most cruel thing you can do to a feline. I wont educate you or even be nasty to you as you deserve. Try to understand we are talking about an animal that is defined by it´s natural instincts and defences.Without it it´s a pillow! Claws are a vital part of the defence. I suggest you pull out your own nails and see if it its ok for you. Please get back when you have and tell us if it´s allright!

@card969 I'm telling you DON'T FUCKING GET A CAT. If your kid can't learn to leave a cat alone, then you don't have any business having a cat. If your kid isn't mentally retarded, then getting bopped a few times with the claws in should convince him. If the kid pushes it, then he'll get scratched, and he'll deserve it. If you think a cat scratch is gonna permanent fuck up your kid, then you're delusional, and you shouldn't have KIDS either.

In fact, declawing is now forbidden and illegal in over 24 countries in Europe since May 2004. the reasons are:

"Because declawing performed under general anesthesia is irreversible and painful surgery that could lead to complications.

Because declawing should be the last solution to be considered to prevent an owner to give or to euthanize the cat because he was unable to educate him.

Because no owner can not guarantee that her cat, stripped of his defenses, never escape from the house."

I know some vets here in my country who stop declawing cats and don't want to do that again because of the pain inflicted to cats during the procedure and just after... That's what they said! A friend of mine is in vet school and after seeing a procedure of declawing he told me he will never do that to a cat. So I think it's a cruel thing to do to animals only for human comfort!

I am all for delcawing cats as long as they stay indoors only because it is pointless to declaw a cat and sit it outside. My neighbours have cats and they are declawed and they don't mind or know any different and are happier and healthier than any other cat I've known. Even happier than my cats that are clawed that stay inside and outside.

Cat breeders make me sick. Do you know how many cats lives could have been saved at the pound for the cost of one of these cats? ALOT. Selfish people. These cats can cost up to 8 or 9 grand!!

@nonlinusal Now if we are talking about declawing a WILD cat, that should never be done no. They are not meant to be pets.

@Esperonza yes, BUT if they are stricly an indoor cat, tell me what it is they are defending themselves against? We are not talking about wild cats, we are talking about domesticated animals. If it can be avoided, and vets will tell you this if they are good vets, it is best to get something like soft paws to keep claws covered, much like fake nails. If a cat is an indoor/outdoor cat, we, at our clinic, always try and talk people out of declawing as OUTSIDE yes they need defense. Inside...no.

@nonlinusal are set in your ways and are obviously not educated about the ins and outs of the operations. It is not CRUEL in the way you are thinking. If it was, licensed veterinarians would NEVER do the procedure now would they? I work behind the scenes with vets and have seen the good, bad, and ugly. Believe me, declawing is done more humanly then a lot of other procedures out there. Cats live normal lives without their claws IF the procedure is done at a YOUNG age. Claws are apart of defense

@nonlinusal You say I deserve for you to be nasty to me? For one they do not TEAR OUT cat's claws. They put them under and cut them out. For two you obviously did not read everything I said. You just automatically jumped on my case. I said, did I not, there were BETTER options out there. Thereby stating I do not fully support declawing. I explained what it was like taking them off, but off course people will see and believe what they want. You do not need to educate me as you, yourself....
