The Upper Hand - The Complete First Series DVD is out Monday 18th January 2010 from all good retailers and at http://www.networkdvd.co.uk

When advertising executive Caroline Wheatley places an ad for a live-in home help, shes a little perturbed when Charlie Burrows, a footballer whose career has stalled following an injury, appears at her luxurious country home claiming to be the applicant. However, Carolines alluring, vivacious mother, Laura, is rather more appreciative of the good-looking and resourceful Charlie, who is also bringing up his daughter alone. Carolines seven-year-old son, Tom, also warms to him, and, before long, so does his mum; despite the unconventional circumstances and a few painfully awkward moments, a tentative romance begins...

This engaging comedy series stars Joe McGann as Charlie and Diana Weston as Caroline, with Avengers siren Honor Blackman as Laura and future Bad Girls star Kellie Bright as Charlies streetwise and tomboyish daughter, Joanna.

The Upper Hand was based on scripts for the hugely popular US sitcom Whos the Boss and was a major success for Central Television, running for seven years in total. This release contains every episode of series one, screened in 1990, plus that years Christmas special.

  • I would've shagged both Diana and Honor !!

  • diana shows her legs and back in a bath in ep 2.no nipples:(

  • @alwrig It's based on Who's the boss. One of the Atlantic hopping sitcoms we and the americans get.

  • The house is almost identical to the one on "Who's The Boss?"

  • haha anyone notice Kelly Bright (Jo) makes a bit of an acting boo boo at 2.47

Great show I must buy the seasons

  • It's funny. In the States you always hear about American shows being adapted from British ones. But I'd never imagine a show like Who's the Boss getting a British makeover. I recognize a lot of the lines from the original.

  • Who's the Boss? is my favorite show..I want to see this when I go to England next summer on vacation! Does it still play in re-runs over there?

  • Legend of a show :')!! Could someone please put some episodes up, that would be awesome :D

  • @IkeDyson

Yes, that point has already been MADE several TIMES.

  • @2Touchstone

I know BOTH shows, and you are WRONG.
