My Third video, this is a tribute to the 66000 KIA Canadians these were the "Youth" of an entire generation, Canada being a nation of only a few million this was a substancial loss, there were a further 155 000 wounded, The First world war marked the "New age " of Canada Sir Wilfred Laurier once said that "The 20th Century belongs to Canada" little did he know that the catalyst that would prove this true would cost so much in canadian blood and valor

The great thing about Canadian documentaries about the wars are that they are more of a memorial than a glorification of "how awesome we are" or "how bad we kicked their ass". To think that way is to assume we had little to no losses when the opposite is true. These heros gave their lives and still do so that we may learn from our mistakes. Americans are proud people and should be, but are proud in the wrong way.
Unfortunetly the movie wasn't that good. It could have done verywell if he didn't make the movie a love movie. Although, easily one of the best war scenes I've seen in a long time. All in all I think it does not deserve the title Passchendaele, respectivly.
more than 1939 and 1914. where were they in 1914, 1915, 1916 and 1917. they never reached the front until spring 1918. and they never reached the european front until summer 1942, while the only thing they accomplished in 1941 was to be slaughtered in the philipines.
In actual fact, the Americans were there, providing the supplies of food, ammuntion, guns, everything the Allied armies needed during WWI, if not for them, Germany might well have won on the Western Front, and that would have changed the world as we know it. If you can find a copy, read 'History of World War I'. It was first published in 1974. This information is in 'Chapter 4, sub-chapter 5 The New Military Balance.'
first off. no offence to you but, the americans weren't useful. they made us pay back for their resources. whereas it is shown that in both world wars canada gave 70% of its resources to other armies in the war and did not get anything back. a third of british shells fired in ww1 were canadian made and 70% of canadian ammunition, artillery, tanks etc. were donated to the british and americans.
