  • actually, your ~ is whatever your admin sets it to be. it may be under /home or not. see it with "echo $HOME" or "cd ~ ; pwd" :) Nice basic beginner's 'don't be afraid of terminal'-guide:)

  • at (5:11..) absolute directories start with a dash? I think you meant slash..small point :)
