Here's an update to the video I posted yesterday. After copping heaps of flak, the ABC decided to suspend the Chaser's War On Everything for at least two weeks. I disagree with that decision but it didn't really surprise me.

What did surprise me was when the Chaser team actually apologised. This is something they have never done before to the best of my knowledge. Here's a link that includes video of their apology:
http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009/06/06/2591216.htm?section=entertainment

Given how strong people's reaction to this was, I'd like to know how you feel whether you supported the Chaser or thought the Make a Reasonable Wish Foundation sketch was out of line.

IF you supported the Chaser, how do you feel now they've said they were wrong and shouldn't have done the sketch?

IF you thought the sketch was wrong how do you feel now they have apologised? Are you satisfied with their apology?

I wonder if they will even come back on air. I suspect the reason they apologised is they may have been told that this stunt has almost destroyed their career. For anyone who thinks they could take their show to another network, I'd say you're wrong. No commercial network would touch them - they are poison to advertisers.

  • I think they apologised because of all the pressure put on them etc.

  • @imlay1992 So they are gutless pussies who won't stand by what they do

  • They had some hilarious, well written humor and a tendency to be edgy. In my opinion it is like people who attend a comedy club and are insulted when they get picked on. if you do not wish to be apart of it, do not attend. Its like Stephen Lynch songs, at least one is bound to offend you but that risk is what makes the others funny.

Frankly not bothered about their apology, they were just looking out for their careers. Can't blame them for being pussies.

  • @mandowarrior123 What I hate are their fucking fanboys going on about how awesome they are and totally glossing over their worthless fucking puss-out. Gutless privileged fucking wankers who don't have the balls to stick to what they say.

  • @AngryAussie I think it was mainly pressure from the ABC - they were likely threatened to never get onto tv again (which they have only just recently managed to do on "the hamster wheel"). But yes i agree, it would have been good for them to have stood by their work.

  • @7CellarDoors That is the most pathetic load of horseshit imaginable. You're either a fucking idiot or a soulless cunt

  • @AngryAussie Everyone makes mistakes, and everyone has the right to either apologize for their mistakes, regardless of their sincerity. Obviously they didn't plan on making an apology beforehand of the sketch so there is merit in them saying they didn't expect this big a whiplash. Sure its a puss out, but at the end of the day, not expecting such a severe public reprimand and apologizing for the obvious hurt they caused was the right thing to do, regardless of not "standing behind what they say"

  • @AngryAussie well if they are too chicken shit to face the crowd, then they shouldn't have said it.

And maybe they should eat their words before it,.

as for forgiving:I would go with the in between:not fully pardoned since it could have been deliberate.

  • @piromaniac9999 People who won't stand behind the things they say make me sick

  • I think there is a line to draw of things that are in bad taste.

Some people can get away with certain comedies because even though its shocking and such, its done in an innocent tone that isn't meant to be offensive.

Other people who do such jokes come off as elitist pricks and detestable for their bad taste in humor.

I say it all depends on how you say it.

George carlin can use the word nigger and not sound like a racist asshole because he is talking about the word itself and its uses.
