Doing some looking around the interwebs I found that rope stretch for Static rope is sub 5% or 10%... Dynamic seemed to be closer to the 30% range. This matches what I have heard before.
When calculating fall factor do you calculate the length of fall to when the rope starts catching or when the fall stops? Because the fall in your factor 2 example from 100ft up should end up being 230 ft with 30% stretch of the 100ft of rope, if you calculate to when the fall is stopped.

I have static ropes at 0.5 to a max of 1.5 % stretch.
We also have start talking KN of force now to carry on this conversation. Remember I am just a poor dumb redneck and made all this shit up.

Nice opening - really underlines the fact that there aren't any mountains in England :( - are you going to do anything about calculating force in kN, which I've never been able to get my head around?

I was thinking about that. I may leave that till I get part two done. It really is a can of worms that I am not sure I want to open. Thinking about it though I guess it would be a good thing to add for those who like the theory part of the game. The scenery is all shot within 20 minutes of my house. I feel pretty lucky to be able to live here. What you don't see is the 9 months of winter that goes with it.
