for all af you out there who is out there Specifically out to target sharks, i am disgusted and Disappointed at you as a fisher man sharks are an apex Predator with a very low breeding rate, when you knock off the top guys the eco system will run amuck!!!! please think about what you are doing!!!!!!!

Bronzies can be caught in most North Island harbours from Dec to March when then come in to give birth to their young and also off many of the east coast surf beaches. Not sure on west coast beaches.
Best bait is Bonito/skippy, either a whole frame after taking the fillets off for the snapper, or the front half with fillet on and guts included.
I will be trying for them off Omaha Beach this summer as was done on Carters Gone fishing program earlier this year.
Good luck and be careful :o)

Oh yeah, and always a steel trace, 3 meters long and preferrably 400lb as they can bite thru the 200lb (as we learnt).

Have got most of them around Crusoe Rock between Motuhie and Wiaheke Is (Waitemata Harbour) using either Bonito frames after filleting the bait off for snapper or snapper frames after filleting the snapper :o).
From December to February we were getting 4 out of 5 baits taken within minutes of putting them down. It's amazing how many there are down there. We fish two rigs, a 24kg and a 37kg. Tried 15kg once but couldn't put enough pressure on them. More fun than you can shake a stick at!!!
