Sociology is the most complex science man has ever known. Math , physics, astronomy ..those are easy...sociology is the subject of the future .
We hardly know anything about ourselves, I can't wait for the "human enlightenment" to happen, this when we realize that we are all the same "human" ,.. and stop the pointless squabbling in the middle east , Africa and south America...

Sociology is not biased towards socialism. Karl Marx, a prominent sociologist of the 19th century, was pretty much the founder of socialist thought, but his theories make up only a part of entire body of sociological theory. Sociologist Emile Durkheim, the notable subject of this bizarre video, endorsed an orderly class structure, like the one we have now in the US. He thought that certain people were just cut out to be at the bottom, and others at the top, because things ran smoothly that way.

I understand the importance of it, to a certain degree. I just do not see the application to nursing.
The problem I have, is that is biased towards socialism, and of course, America is evil. Anybody who believes that should be parachuted out over China with their sociology book stuck up their ass.

Read George Orwell's 1984, and apply the Durkheim perspctive and you may understand the importance of sociology; the more you know about your world, and the more you know how to articulate it, the more you are likely to resolve world issues.

I'm a sociology major, and i find this video to be a bit disturbing..its attacking one of the great founders of sociology. Durkheim's work on suicide laid the foundation for what sociology is today.
And rexanatater, sociology is NOT pointless..
it helps people to not take social rules for granted. Sociology IS pertinent to medicine, because social problems is a branch of sociology, and part of social problems is the helthcare system, HMOs, lack of coverage, etc.
so think before you slam.
