Do i eat captain crunch ?/:

@trevfrank That is not true. You store glucose as glycogen in the liver and muscles. Carb loading however is only really useful for endurance athletes and if done properly. You are right about complex carbs though.

I think the best thing to eat before a race such as a marathon is Chinese food. It tastes good and it has 7 essential ingredients that will keep you running all day. I suggest starting with some soup(either egg drop or won ton), and then eating a small order of spare ribs. You should finish off the meal with a large portion(a quart size) of chicken or beef with broccoli in a brown sauce. One final note, don't forget to finish the meal with a fortune cookie for good luck. Happy running!!!

hey Dave, now I am keen to know what you eat before big runs, seeings how you strongly disagree. I would eat bars, not powerbars, i hate them, they are painful to eat, running a marathon is easy in comparison, actually during the run, but change my food a lot for race day, but some bread or savoury dumplings about 1 hr out of the race..Cheers Cathy
CARBO LOADING is a myth. ur body cannot extract any energy from foods after 12 hours +
not just any carbs either. make sure they are complex carbs for they take longer to break down and provide longer lasting energy.
make sure u start hydrating a week in advanced too
and on the morning of the marathon, eat 1.5hr-2hrs before the run.

if i did something to make me feel bloated or slow performance the few days before the race that i had never done before that would screw up my whole months preparation. how can you run a marathon on a powerbar or banana? there is no way...if your already in shape enough to run a marathon you have to eat huge amounts of food just to maintain bodyweight and performance so how could you possibly perform well on a powerbar or banana before a marathon?
