Mining company Blackstone ventures has managed to buy the rights to start drilling in the Vindelfjällen nature reserve in the north of Sweden. The company is planning to drill right by one of the most ancient Sámi summer villages still inhabited every summer by the people of Grans Sameby. This is one of Europas latest wild areas, classified Natura 2000 by the EU and vital as summer pasture for reindeers. A mine would obviously create a considerable and irreversible damage both to nature and to the Sámi culture.

Funny, millions of people are flocking to see Avatar--which is the same story as this! and yet there are no comments here--well, I challenge people to become aware of what is happening right now, and not to wait for the movie to come out!
