  • Thanks for putting this up, great job! I actually have a couple of suggestions. As far as the tuning, I think it's actually in DADGAD. But with that string being a whole step down, you only have to make minor adjustments to the riffs and chord clusters you've already figured out. I also think that the second shape you're playing during the chorus may be off. I think he actually goes down from the open_A/10/12 to open_A/9/7/8. OR, you can just invert the 10/12 and play a 12/10. Helpful?

  • @bennyshambles It's definitely not DADGAD. Justin uses those double A or D strings all the time.

  • what tuning is it in?

  • @budameat As I remember it's DADAAD.

  • is this standard tuning?

  • @rubensinclair no, it isn't.

  • @bennyshambles For what it's worth the old Unwound site has an email from someone who asked Justin about his go-to tuning, and he told him it's DADGAD, so you're on the right track! Also (from his headstocks):

    Tuning #1 : DAEAAD

used for : All Souls Day, Usual Dosage, Sonata for Loudspeakers, Devoid, Next Exit

    Tuning #2 : F#AEAAD

used for : Dragnalus, Abstraktions, Honourosis, Lifetime Achievement Award, and others

So yeah, just thought people might be interested. Great cover also!

  • nice dude! this gets a little boring on bass but its such sweet song.

  • @slackerVK - Definitely not, huh? Well OK, just a friendly suggestion. I know that tuning works really well for many of the songs I've figured out how to play. Standard and drop D are used often as well ("Fiction Friction" and "Usual Dosage" for example), along with minor tweaks such as F-A-D-G-B-E ("Arboretum"). Anyways, thanks again for putting this up.

  • PS - I figured out "Unauthorized Biography" and "For Your Entertainment" in the DADGAD tuning as well, along with "Lady Elect" which is in standard.

  • Seeing somebody's fingers actually create these thick weird clusters in front of my very eyes makes me appreciate even more how otherworldly they are. THANKS!

  • Great STUFF

  • One of the best rock songs of the 90's, in my humble opinion.

  • hell yeah!
