we might both agree that Matsumoku was probably the top, as far as production quality, guitar manufacturer at that time in Japan. Thanks for your comments. P.S check out Nobuaki Hayashi. he wasn't a copy guy, he was an innovator

Great job ! I bought my westone dynasty in 83' while in high school. It was stolen from my house 19 years ago. 6 months ago, that same guitar came into the guitar shop i teach at and got traded for a $ 129.00 strat copy. the store owner knew my story and gave it to me. I rewired it back to factory specs and am still amazed by how good it sounds. Ahead of its time for sure. Really good review

@TheGrinchesBrother The 'GR' in the model name stands for Graphite, which was a semi-popular finish at SLM in 1983 and 1984 from what I can tell. It turns out to be a Grey metallic color. Sometimes you see people referring to an Olive color too, I'm not sure if that is a different finish, or one of these that has faded from time and exposure to the Elements though... Grey + Yellow = Olive Green??? This one spent 98% of its life in a case, so there is very little fading going on.

Oh, and electra is Korean. the Japanese made westone is a product of the Matsumoko factory which started this design. The father of this type of bad ass coil tapping/phase shifting was Nobuaki Hayashi , from westone. The westones in this era are truly rare, if anyone was wondering

@sonicpunisher Westone was a Matsumoku House brand before SLM used the name. In 1984 the SLM guitars would have both Electra and Westone on the Headstock, by 1985 they would simply read Westone. Sometime in the mid 80's there was a fire at the Matsumoku factory and all production was moved to Korea afterwards. To my knowledge all the 70's and 80's Electras were made in Japan. According to SLM lore, Tom Presley designed the H/S/H and push/pull setup... but who knows for sure? Cheers!
