I using my Internet browser and a Lantronix XPort Ethernet-to-Serial bridge for blinking a LED :)
This tiny device even includes a Web server! And if you could write Java applets; you can access to onboard 3 I/O ports and serial port on the device. Really cool toy for me :)

  • Is that Xport stock or did you program it? Are you using a breakout board to plug that in your breadboard?

  • It is running some example application from Lantronix. And yes, I am using a breakout board from Sparkfun.

  • did you have to use the dev kit to program that. or can I just buy the module and breakout and wire it up to be able read/write a couple digital I/Os via web?

also, is there a tutorial for what you did?

  • Programming can be done over ethernet connection. You can also put a simple Web pages inside the module.

However, this module intended for serial to Ethernet bridge applications; I/O controlling is a "additional" and somewhat limited feature. They can not a not do more to see here.
