This is a fantastic tune featuring The Ska-Talites. As rare as this is on black wax, green wax is obscenely rare. Colored wax 45s were pressed in extremely low numbers in Jamaica during the 50's and 60's. I also have this on the WIRL label and I'm not sure which is the first press. Randy's was pressed by WIRL but each copy has different matrix numbers.

  • this is just perfect, so refreshing

  • Fcking yes. i found it, UNexpectedly. YES YES freakin' YES!

  • Thank you for the correction. The funny thing is I knew that. I must have been distracted at the time I wrote that.

  • @PJDooWop One correction PJ Sir if you don't mind.

WIRL is an acronym for West Indies Records Limited which was started and owned by Edward Seaga (later PM of Jamaica).

WIRL was the alternative to the Khouri's Federal pressing facilities on the island during the 1960's.

Byron Lee bought the plant and studio in 1968 and renamed it Dynamic hence the matrix prefixs changed from WIRL.... to Dyna....which by the way is another aid to dating tunes especially blanks.

    Respectfully Deck.

  • unmistakably cool

  • Good Shite!!

  • Perhaps someone will read our postings PJ and clarify it. Although 47 years is getting to be a while ago. :) Dave

  • thanks PJ. Info on the web can be misleading. Not having a copy of this great record, I couldn't tell for sure what song was on the flip side. I think the Whirl pressing came after the Randy release, but I couldn't pin that down either.
