This tutorial will explain how to make displacements for hills and texture blends in Hammer.

1. Create the brush that you will use as the ground

2. Click the face edit sheet and select the top face of the brush you just made

3. Click the 'Displacements' tab and press create. The power is the number of time it is divided; the higher the number, the higher quality.

4. Press 'Paint Geometry' to add height or depth to your displacement. Press 'Paint Alpha' to paint the opposite texture that is used in your blend.

Note: You must select a 'blend' texture to paint the alpha texture onto your displacement.

  • i keep having a problem where when i try to do anything to my map like create something, it drags the veiw instead of a grid box. you know how to fix this?

  • @CY130RG not sure I think that has happened to me in the past but I can't remember exactly.

  • Why does it make a sound like you are walkign on concrete?

  • idk I think that is the sound of grass/dirt in CSS. But it might just be the texture I used.
