Maria Farandouri is an extraordinary singer, very strong, passionate, sensitive. I love her singing even I don't know anything about Greek. I heard her singing "Canto General" with music of Theodorakis and lyrics of the Chilean Poet Pablo Neruda. what has happened to Maria F. I haven't heard about her anymore?

I am in love with young Maria... ΟΛΑ!

What a voice, Mikis & Maria together, pure magic. The tiny piece at 1-47 is sublime But all lovely. I hope Greece gets out of the substantial mess it seems to be in at this time, I say this as an Englishman with a love of Greece, the country & the music!!.

@pamelak:i I was there too during those years, part of the expatriate community in Pangrati. Those were the days. Even with the God awful junta, they were great times. However, it was the beginning of the end for Greece as we knew it...

Einmalig! Beide LEBEN Musik! Herzlichen Dank für das Hochladen!

@harhar6661 Neither am I Greek but I have a Greek soul and I've been a fan of Maria since I first saw her in concert in 1986.

viva Ellada !
I'm not Greek either, but when Mikis and Maria work together, it always seems to come out as magic. Especially the performance just after democracy was restored in Greece is magic. The conviction and feeling behind that voice. Brilliant. Mikis seems to be enjoying himself quite well too ;-) Pitty sometimes for the sound quality, but hey.. A bit of Greece in my heart (next to Crete)....

When I lived in Athens from 1971-1974, Maria was Greece to me. Maria and Mikis' music was played in shuttered houses all over Athens, and it along with Melina gave us hope. But Maria became a living symbol, because nobody had ever heard a voice like that before. She was the Voice of Greece.
