Nike Missile Base -- Marin Headlands

This video is about the nike missile base located in the Marin Headlands. the NIKE Missile site that is located in the marin headlands, is the only missile site that our country preserved in its "original" state. There were, at one time, 11 missile bases around the bay area, which were used during the cold war to fight off the soviet union bombers.The missiles at this site are named after the greek goddess of victory, Nike. For each Nike installation, there were two important locations: the radar site and launch pad. Now, this Nike missile site has been converted into more of a tourist attraction. There are guided tours given by war veterans, as well as an amazing trip down the "missile elevator".
