A Broken Down Bus Chapter 7

Katie started to play "Hello Beautiful" on the guitar. It's the only song that she ever learned to play.
Nick: Hello Beautiful, hows it going? Here it's wonderful, in California....
When the song was finished, Katie put down the guitar.
Nick: That was really good, Katie.
Katie: thanks.
Nick and Katie got into a huge convo, yet again.

With Kevin, Alexis, and Joe

Kevin: oh my god!! that's the 21st time you bet me!!
Joe: and kevin is the KING of guitar hero!
Alexis: I'm just a gamer.. what can I say?
Alexis had gotten to know Kevin while playing the game, and she wasn't as nervous anymore.
Joe: what can YOU say? you mean what can WE say!!!
Kevin: what WE say is
Kevin got down on the floor and started bowing to Alexis. Joe joined in.
Joe&Kevin: We aren't worthy. We aren't worthy.
Alexis: GUYS!! (laughing)
Joe continued bowing, but Kevin looked up and smiled at Alexis. Alexis smiled back.
Joe got up.
Joe: I'm gonna go to the gas station.. coming kev?
Kevin: nah. i'll stay here.
Kevin sat down on the couch with Alexis. Joe left.
Kevin: So.... how old are you?
He wanted to get everything about her straight.
Alexis: 19.
Kevin: and your friends with a 15 year old?
Alexis: Katie isn't 15, Kevin
Kevin: really? how old is she?
Aleixs: she's 17.
Kevin: wow... older than nick.. cool... ummm.... favorite band?
Alexis: you guys
Kevin: awesome.... favorite food?
Alexis:(giggles) pizza.. whats with all these questions?
Kevin: i just really want to get to know you... really.
Alexis smiled at him, and he winked at her. Suddenly, Nick and Katie came into the front room. Katie was crying.
Alexis: whats wrong k?
Katie: i need to talk to mom...
She left, sobbing.
Kevin: dude.. what did you do?
Nick: she's not mad at ME kev. I asked her something i've never asked her before, and she got upset. Don't make fun of me.
Alexis: what did you ask her??
Nick:well-
Alexis: wait.... did you mention her dad????
Nick: well actually, ya.... she started crying as soon as i asked. Where is he? is he dead or something?
Alexis: no.... it's even hard for me to talk about it. It's horrible.
Kevin: we won't say you told us.
Alexis: ok... well, when she was 6 years old, her dad murdered somebody.
Kevin: are you serious?
Nick: really??
Alexis: yes... but it wasn't just anybody. It was Katie's older sister, Heather.
Nick and Kevin looked at eachother, mouths open.
Alexis: Heather was 14.... Katie's mom explained to me what happened 4 years ago. I've been Katie's best friend ever since.. Here's what happened:
Heather had come home with a boy a few weeks before the murder. Katie's dad was against dating, so he disntinctly told the boy to never see his daughter, or else there would be trouble.... 1 week later, Katie's dad was at the bank, which is right next to a coffee shop. He decided to go in and get some coffee. He saw Heather and the boy kissing over the table, and the boy's hand was holding Heather's butt... Katie's dad ran over and pulled them apart, remember, this is what the police told katie's mom. Apparently, Katie's dad confessed everything that happened at his cour hearing. After he pulled them apart, Katie's dad grabbed heather's wrist and pulled her out of the shop. He pushed her into the car and started driving. She was crying, asking where they were going, but Katie's dad didn't answer. they pulled up to the edge of town, and her dad brought her into a back alley. He cracked her wrists, and through her down on the ground. He told her how much he hated her, and then..... he took out... a..a..
Alexis started crying. She felt so bad for her best friend. Kevin held her tightly in his arms.
Nick: a gun?
Alexis: (sobbing) yes... and he shot her... her body was found... and.. and... he confessed. He's got life inprisonment.
Nick felt a tear slide down his cheek. That was the saddest story he had ever heard. He ran out of the bus, and heard sobs coming from the roof. He climbed the ladder, and saw Katie, sitting there. She was crying uncontrolably.
Katie: i bet Alexis told you everything.
Nick: Katie...
He hugged her and held her in his arms. He kissed her forehead.
Nick: Katie.. Katie....
He kissed her forehead again.
Katie looked up at him. Her eyes were puffy and swollen. Nick took his hand and wiped away her tears.
Nick: (whispers) it's ok.. i'm sorry.. katie... oh katie...
He kissed her forehead again, and she cuddled into his chest, holding him tight, never wanting to let go. 10 minutes later, she had stopped crying.
Katie: Nick, thank you. thank you so much.
Nick kissed her cheek and smiled at her.
Katie: i- i- i don't know what I would do if you wern't here.
Nick looked into her eyes, and leaned in. Katie leaned up, and Nick gently pressed his lips to hers.She kissed back, loving every minute, and then they both pulled away.Nick saw that Katie was crying again.He wiped her tears away and leaned in for another kiss
