3 minute brief on approximately 800 years of West African empies not usually covered by western historians. Its an overview of the west african caliphates namely Kanem borno, the Hausa states. Other empires existed such as Kwararafa, Oyo, Kwara, Benin etc etc. Influencial figures include, Queen Amina and Usman Dan Fodio, well worth researching all the above. The greatest of the states was The Sokoto Caliphate because of its reach and Usmans Jihad had large rammifications during that period. Most of the historical events are documented in the Kano Chronicles. The end of these Caliphates was in 1906 when the British and French decided to end slavery in Africa, compounded by colonial ambition. The region would then be under indirect rule until independence.

  • ALLAHOU AKBAR

GOD BLESS AFRICA AND THE REST OF THE WORLD

SOON ISLAMIC CALIPHATE WILLE RISE AGAIN IN WEST-AFRICA

  • @Saheli9 Dude the caliphate never went away its the idiots in the middleeast who have never lived under the laws of Mohammed due to corrupt leaders. In Africa the monarchs, Emirs, Sultans have always ruled but not using Islamic doctrine. The Caliphate(sokoto) symbolises the Hausa Fulani empire rather than a religious bloc. It was built on 2 Jihads by Queen Amina and Usman Dan Fodio to spread social justice and law. It wasnt a religious but political faction. The Emirs are largely heretic anyway

  • love this video!!!!

  • @jimilli09 , i feel sorry for you, there is nothing as garamante ,djerma are descendant of Songhay or songayawa, and the name djerma is less than 200 years old. get help please

  • @BeitilNabawiya Garamante is a Greek word. It is not African. This is the Greek form of Djerma. We all come from Djerma which confirms the Mande origin of us being Children of the Mande. "Us" as in Hausa, Nigerien Tuareg (who has Chad origin too), Kanuri, Toubou, Zaghawa, some Fulani, etc. Nigerien Tuareg has 100% Chadian DNA! Hausa has 100% Chadian DNA! The question is which region in Chad did we come from? The Fezzan!

  • @BeitilNabawiya It's common sense and reasoning: Kanem empire in the same exact area of Garamante empire and came directly after Garamante empire fell. Originally, geneticists called this the Bantu expansion till they noted the same genetics found in Europe in these populations which all point to a North-Central African origin. Research has been done on the Djerma and Toubou...all Nilo Saharan speakers but like French and Spanish, neither understands the other. Hausa is Chadic for Chad origin

  • @jimilli09

Brother, why you always think different about Africans?

You said (( Songhai, Hausa, Kanuri, Tuareg, Kanuri, Zaghawa, and Toubou are descendants of the Garamantes. Garam was a state in that Chad that grew into the Kanem empire. Garam means Djerma and Djerma means Songhai.))

Where did you get that from?

  • @dogons2k12 dumb bitch always saying something stupid!

  • you're definitely right but you made an error...European colonizing doesn't exactly equate to slavery in the region. We were selling slaves way before any European ever touch our soil...in fact this was our livelihood..we did this for a living and it was damn easy to do!

  • @openyourmind678 Europeans bought Kanem-Bornu under European control in 1914 although they have been in the region since the 1800s. Their were to make military surveys...basically spying which culminated into the collection of historical documents from the Sudan. In the case of Bornu, Henry Barth and his contemporaries were literally given historical records by the Kanuri themselves after the Kanuri attempted to alter the important sections of these documents. How do we know? wwwdotkasadotcom

  • @extraterrestrialbibi You know very little of your own history. Songhai, Hausa, Kanuri, Tuareg, Kanuri, Zaghawa, and Toubou are descendants of the Garamantes. Garam was a state in that Chad that grew into the Kanem empire. Garam means Djerma and Djerma means Songhai. Our Garamante ancestors converted to Judaism in 1230AD. Proof is the fact that we have a biblical Torah genealogy that became an Islamic one after we all converted to Islam. Go study your history. And quit dissing my sister!
