  • thanks for info

  • Great video, but i have a few comments. The Diode and Capacitor is not responsible for the frequency. The diode rectifies the AC current from the transformer, and the capacitor smoothes it out. The Magnetron itself has a internal cavity, which sets the frequency. Inside the magnetron sits two ferrite rods with thich wire on them, those are chokes that stops most of the interference, so you do not transmit 2,4 GHz out on the wires to the transformer. There is NO transistor inside the magnetron.

  • fantastic vid

  • Good one Dave. The main fuse can blow if the door safety switch dont work good too .Most of the problems i have to solve on the microwave ovens were blown diodes or magnetrons with short circuit to the ground .If you have an oscilloscope with component tester its easier to check the diode or the capacitor .Your video remembers me when i was an home appliances repair man , microwave ovens are easy to fix : just be carefull where you put your fingers :-)

  • @Knaeckebrotsaege well thats true:)

  • @Knaeckebrotsaege is this due to the inductive load and large current of the transformer? I mean, other 120VAC devices have glass fuses.

  • @redneckrollercoast1 the throwaway society has its good sides though.. It's the reason why i'm watching this on a 24" LCD i got for free ;D

Was about to be junked because of 3 bad capacitors.. replaced them all. total cost: less than 5bucks

  • @jrcstudios glass fuses will shatter violently (like a firecracker)

  • I really liked your huge shelf of microwave spare parts, that I didn't even know existed before I watched this video. Really cool, I've got a microwave that's 20 years old just like me and it's still working without any problems.. it's a Philips Whirlpool M602, with the 900w Jet function. I really like it, and now that I know how to fix it, I sure will if it ever breaks. How cool to have a microwave just as old as me in 20 years, still running. Imagine that! Thank's dave, gotta love redneck DIY.

  • i have 1 that it works good but my light's dim and the plug on the cord get worm do you know what it is
