Are there really creatures of the night?

Vampires exist -- and have a long, dark history going back further than human history. In the dark paranormal fantasy novel, The Lady of Serpents, Book II of The Vampyricon from Douglas Clegg, the mythology of vampires continues.

Fun Facts:

Bestselling novelist Christine Feehan has a connection to this video and others made for Douglas Clegg's Vampyricon: her daughter Denise Feehan Tucker and husband Cody Tucker star in these videos, along with Christine's niece Jessica (who plays Enora, the Queen of Wolves).

Clegg began writing The Vampyricon in the early 1990s, but it was turned down by every publisher at the time because "vampires just aren't popular." Flash forward to 2005, and the trilogy sells at auction to Penguin USA and also in several countries overseas.

Clegg based the Vampyricon Trilogy on his travels, including his trip to archaeological digs in Mexico when he was 10 years old, and standing on the steps of the Pyramid of the Sun in Teotihuacan. Also, in his early 20s, Clegg lived in France and based much of the setting for The Vampyricon and his novel, Mordred Bastard Son, on the forest at Paimpont in Brittany.

Mythologically, Clegg returned to ancient myths of Hurrites and Canaanites and Sumerians and others to create the mythological underpinnings of the vampires of this triloy.

Clegg's first vampire novel ever read: Dracula

His second and third: Interview with the Vampire and Salem's Lot.

"Clegg's Vampyricon offers a bold epic of a shadowy medieval world and a dark tale of swords, sorcery and vampires in The Priest of Blood."
Christine Feehan
New York Times bestselling author of Dark Demon and Dark Celebration.

"Astonishing. Douglas Clegg writes of...nightmares with such clarity and passion you don't end up reading his books; you end up drinking them in. The Priest of Blood is a bloody gem."

Christopher Rice Author of the New York Times bestsellers A Density of Souls and Light Before Day.

"A master of the genre. Absolutely thrilling! Douglas Clegg is the future of dark fantasy."
Sherrilyn Kenyon
New York Times bestselling author of the Dark-Hunters.

"The Priest of Blood is a richly layered, beautifully rendered foray into a past filled with sorcery and mystery -- and a rousing good story."
Kelley Armstrong

  • The Queen of Wolves waits for him to come to her. It looks like a great book. Rich, haunting music blended with mystical chanting adds to the black and white stills which stunningly transform into moving, color film.
