An innovation on Indian streets. The first electric car made by an Indian company premiered on the roads of Bangalore Tuesday.

It marked the start of a nationwide Indian Climate Solutions Road Tour, aimed at youth to raise awareness about global climate change.

REVA cars, as theyre called, are powered by the next generation lithium ion batteries.

"They have solar cells that directly charge batteries plus they have energy management system that enhances the car's range from 150 to 200 kilometers."

Bangalore-based REVA Electric Car Company rolls out 800 electric vehicles a year. Theyre currently exporting the cars to ten countries.

  • Its a horrible car. In UK, its marketed as G-Wiz. Check out the reviews by BBC. Not good.

    But seriously, probably better than getting wet on a rainy day on a motorcycle. Good for commuting to work and back... unless that 18 wheel rig doesn't see you...
