The Rock - Sarin Gas Chamber

Another amazing scene from The Rock, one of my favourite films. In this scene the chemical labatory are sent a box with possible Sarin Gas within it. It is Stanley Goodspeed and his colleuge's job to find out what it is. But the whole team has a nasty supise for them.

A: A deadly Nerve Gas designed to take out the nervous system, the one in this scene is also corrosive and can burn through rubber.

Q: What happened when the doll sprayed stuff all over them?
A: The Doll was a sneaky way for the terrorists to put a Sarin gas bomb along with a large amount of C4.

Q: Why weren't the sprinklers working?
A: The gas must have slightly melted the metal sprinklers making it a short recovery for them to return to normal?

Q: What did the sprinklers do?
A: They washed off the corrosive liquid gas.

@HSLGaming - That maybe so, but throughout the film, we are told that these are nerve gases. Nerve gases are Organophosphates; in other words, from the same class of chemical compounds as a lot of pesticides. Organophosphate nerve gases are not corrosive, but if breathed in or if it soaks through the skin, then it quickly disrupts the chemicals in the nervous system, causing death within minutes if Antropine is not injected immediately.

Sarin is an Organophosphate chemical compound, i.e. a chemical in the same class as some pesticides. It is NOT a corrosive chemical; it is a highly toxic Organophosphate pesticide. Indeed, the first nerve gas, Tabun, was invented by accident during pesticide experiments.

If inhaled or if it penetrates the skin, it interferes with the chemicals of the nervous system, causing eventual death if the victim is not immediately injected with Antropine.

This scene is just Hollywood bullshit.
