Two Thoughts at the Panvel Station

Each memory is an inexact analog, like the incomplete RNA strands in defective virus particles. Each is a bundle of sense impressions later modified by fill-in-the-gap strategies employed during retrieval; the experience is literally recreated in a purely internal format with no input from the data storm outside the mind. The retrieved experience is also partially reshaped by the patterning impulse, the story the mind is telling itself about all experience; indeed, about its own nature. Any correspondence to objective reality is almost a lucky accident.
