Participation to "the Newspaper game", a regional competition. The young participants from the schools of our region, Sicily, have to write articles on a fixed topic: the renewable energies, on the paper "La Sicilia". This year a group of our students was awarded a prize.

IPSIA and the Renewable Energies

Look at the video about a visit in the field of the "Newspaper game --Extra", to the thermal power station "Archimedes" in Priolo/Siracusa. This is the sole power station of this type in the world, designed by the Nobel Prize for physics, C. Rubbia.
The power station takes Archimedes's principle of the burning glasses as a starting point, so it makes use of parabolic mirrors in order to concentrate the sunbeams on a tube where a saline mixture flows that led to high temperature, produces electric power.
