The recent M1 Invention Convention was the culminating activity in their Technology unit on 'Why and how do we invent? The M2 students focused on Appropriate Technology. They had to select a specific challenge/problem which children in the Williams Hill School, Uganda face today.
The challenge was to design and create an invention which addresses a real problem and to provide a supporting display which shows clear thinking and effective research.
Human Ingenuity for M1 and Community &Service for M2 were the focuses and the students spent many weeks exploring the processes involved in innovation, creation, development and change.
The specific MYP objectives addressed in this unit were investigate, design, plan, create, evaluate and attitudes in Technology. Throughout the project, students compiled a design folder which includes work from each stage of the design process.
The students worked hard to demonstrate creativity, confident communication, awareness of issues, problem solving skills and knowledge of technology.
Congratulations to all students who participated and many thanks to staff for preparing the students for success.
