A 10 car set of Siemens R160B's, with 8872 on the head end and 8892 on the rear, depart rapidly from the Times Square-42nd Street station, and make their way towards the next stop, which is 49th Street, and eventually into Queens and the final destination of Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard. I like these cars for a few reasons: they are bright inside, clean, clear announcements (automatic announcements), the station stop screen on the upper wall is nice, they're fast, and the best part....they make an awesome noise when accelerating from a standstill at a station. The video was taken on January 9th, 2008.
the r44 is not capped, it set a world speed record of 89mph and was still accelerating at the end of the test track

I like R160As better because of its quality. I find R160A smoother and less bumpy. R160As propulsion also makes it quiet; however, nothing beats R160B's Siemens propulsion. For some reason I like how the doors close on r160b (not the ding dong but the clicking and stuff)

Your right, that is a great sound, these sound very similar to the jubilee line trains on the London underground.

Whoo, listen to that acceleration. Heavy rail at it's best.
