This view shows the storm heading toward Galveston, first, with squally rain showers which intensify to stronger hurricane force wind bands (the orange and red colors). The eye crosses the east end of the island at 2:10 am and then proceeds up through Galveston Bay and up over Lake Houston.

  • Glad you enjoyed watching this little video. I made it for a family member living near Houston and another that lived on Galveston Island where Ike made landfall. I live in New Orleans and have been in many with Katrina, Camille, and Betsy being among the worse so far. Most people only think hurricanes affect people along the coast. Thanks for pointing out that you can be far inland and still deal with hurricanes.

  • I was right smack in the middle of this monster. I was in Houston when it decided to strike.

  • eh hurrican ike. 3 months without power.

    fun. =)

  • This is awesome! I live in Ohio and we ended up with Ike clear up here! Several people posted videos of Ike in Ohio, it was wild! I was in Hurricane Hugo in 1989 when I lived in North Carolina, but I never thought I'd be in another hurricane when I moved back to Ohio! Guess we never know what Mother Nature is going to decide to do. Great video, 5 stars and favorited!
