wow, its blackmetal without ns-shit, i like.

I like the term "hipster black metal" because then it means I can easily find all the best black metal bands.
-
this is black metal in the style of sleep and converge

@monkeytube138 I'd rather listen to the likes of Watain...

I don't care what the lead singer is like in person, I don't care how the band dresses, I don't care if this is pretentious or not. The only thing I hear from this band is a bland, uninspired attempt at black metal. I have no idea where all this praise is coming from.

for all the grandstanding and pretentious bullshit in HHH's transcendental black metal lecture this music is pretty standard.
-
i really like the instrumental but its the vocals that don't do it for me. idk, maybe still worth listening to.

I've been a metalhead my whole life. I don't know or care what these guys look like, or what they say in interviews. I don't care if this is proper black metal (it's not). Metal elitists are the only music fans who are actually worse than hipsters. YOU GUYS are what's been ruining metal. Put that up your tru kvlt asses sideways. Liturgy make heavy music, and they piss you humourless motherfuckers off. That's a win-win for me. See you wherever atheists go, jackholes!

@MonoGenerator
yeah, every black metal band MUST sound exactly the same for the genre to progress.
totally makes sense.

Pretentious or not the band are great, if your really basing your opinion solely on interviews with the frontman and some of the shit he says or their appearance then you could not be missing the point more. At the end of the day this IS black metal, traditional or not it has all the stylistics of the genre, I don't see why people get into such a fuss about others putting this band in the same bracket as Krallice or Mayhem (especially when Liturgy do a lot of similar things to krallice)
