It`s the crowds reaction that amazes me. Most of the people who attend this festival are young , many of them probably not even born at the height of Gilbert`s fame in the 1970`s . They go there to see the new bands. And yet he still wins them over and gets them on his side . It proves that if your music is good it will connect with people - regardless of your age or your audiences age. The same thing happened in 1995 and 2008 . The music speaks for itself - it crosses any boundaries .

That`s very true Mohawk . I read somewhere about a young guy who was sure he had never heard of Gilbert O`Sullivan ( this was Glasto- 2008 ) and then when he started he recognised lots of the songs ! I agree it`s unbelievable that the BBC didn`t show anything . Loads of coverage on their digital channels of other ` artists` and not one song from Gilbert - disgusting .

Yeah i don`t know what the BBC`s problem is . It can`t be an age issue - they showed all of Neil Diamond`s and Paul McCartney`s show recently and they are both older than Gilbert . Maybe they under-estimate how popular he still is - they want to attract TV viewers at the end of the day. The crowds reaction should have made it obvious they loved him !
