Links 1st outing on the Gameboy is still one of the best games on Nintendos handheld. Links Awaking sees Link washed up a shore after being shipwrecked on Koholint Island,Found and rescued by Marin(who resembles Princess Zelda)and her father, Link soon sets upoun a quest to find out the mysteroy of Koholint island. Now Links Awaking was the 1st game that really got me hooked on the Zelda series and i can honestly say this is a great introduction to Zelda games if you have never played them before. The game is so accesable and really gets you involved in the story, i guantee that if you start playing this game you wont put it down for hours, its really that good. This game captured everything thing that made the Snes game so amazing and some how managed to cram it into a little game. If you are not a fan of RPGS it really doesnt matter as Links Awaking is superb and has so much character. Now the main difference in the DX version compared to the standered games arent just the colour graphics, it also has a extra dungeon and a few other little secrets, oroiginally when i heard about this game I thought it wasnt really worth it, but i got it and and soon enjoyed the game all over again. So this is the main reason ive decided to the DX version for this review, becasue it has that little bit more.

  • Andy, you should pick up the game "Monster Max" on the Gameboy, it's the little known sequel to Head over Heels. A must if you love those isometric games.

Oh and Race Drivin'. REALLY impressive game for the gameboy.

  • @LarryBundyJr i did think it was a sequel but more of fact that it was made by the same guy in the same style.

  • @locomaniacs1hmps Well I must admit I never finished the original, and I can't play it at all on an original GB screen now as it's just sooo blurry today. But it's really enjoyable now yeah.

Did you know Link's Awakening originally started out as a port of Zelda III?

  • @Lorfarius haha i did that to, just to find all the sea shells.

i got to admit its been agaes since i had played this game and i am finding it tougher.

  • @Leigho79 its a great game i got my copy from ebay recently:)

  • @Gamesta100 its the other way round for me, im not a big fan of turn based rpg.

the zelda games i find are a nice and easy way to get started with whole RPG
